MIDWAY DRIVE-IN COVID-19 POLICIES (subject to change) – PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE POST

SELF ENFORCEMENT OF POLICIES FOR SOCIAL DISTANCING
Everyone please read all of the following new COVID-19 policies and follow them while you are at the Midway. We ask that our guests self-enforce all of the following rules and policies.  That will increase social distancing and give you privacy while in your vehicle, as we will not need to approach your vehicle to request compliance.

PLEASE STAY HOME IF YOU OR A FAMILY MEMBER DO NOT FEEL WELL.  WE’LL BE HERE WHEN YOU FEEL BETTER!

FACE COVERING POLICIES

  • Everyone must bring a face covering (ex: scarf, bandana, old T-Shirt, mask, etc.) with you to the Midway
  • Everyone must wear a face covering when they are outside of their vehicle.
  • The driver and front passenger in each vehicle must wear a face covering when entering the Midway to have your tickets scanned at the box-office, or when speaking to parking attendants. The face coverings may be removed once the vehicle is parked and you are in the vehicle.
  • Face coverings must be worn in the restroom line, building, and in the restrooms.
  • If you are sitting in the open air in the flatbed of your truck or if your vehicle has its top down, you must wear a face covering.
  • A face covering is not needed when you are sitting inside your vehicle if it has a roof.

Face coverings are not just for Health and Safety, they are also for creating peace of mind. Wearing a face mask is an act of kindness and consideration of others. If everyone is wearing a mask when they leave their vehicle and go to the restroom, everyone can feel secure.  Wearing a face covering when required is a good deed to your fellow drive-in goers.

As Willy Wonka said (in which is one of our favorite moments in movie history which we are playing this summer): “So shines a good deed in a weary world”.

Thank you in advance to everyone for doing a good deed by wearing a face covering and for helping us create an atmosphere where everyone will feel safe and secure.

ARRIVAL POLICY
The driver and front passenger in each vehicle must wear a face covering when entering the Midway to have your tickets scanned at the box-office. The face coverings may be removed once the vehicle is parked. Midway staff will wear face masks.

  • Non-refundable booking fees apply for advance ticket purchases.
  • No refunds on advance ticket purchases. No exceptions. Contact us if you are unable to attend.

  • One ticket scan per vehicle.  Please purchase tickets for all occupants of each vehicle & Food Permit under one transaction. No multiple transactions for one vehicle, or multiple vehicles under one transaction. Please keep it simple in order for our cashiers to keep the lines moving smoothly.
  • If you have passes, just purchase a food permit in advance for your vehicle.  That will reserve a spot for you. Then turn in your passes at the box-office.

WHAT YOU MUST BRING WITH YOU TO REDEEM YOUR ADVANCE TICKETS AT OUR BOX-OFFICE

ADMISSION POLICY / BRING IN YOUR OWN FOOD & DRINKS / FOOD PERMIT
The Midway Concession stand is closed until further notice. Everyone will bring their own food and drinks. The purchase of a $10.00 Food Permit per vehicle (and admission tickets) is required to enter the Midway. Order your advance tickets and food permit on-line at www.themidwaydrivein.net. You may pay in advance on-line for your tickets and Parking Permit using either a Paypal account, or by using a credit card via PayPal.

Advance on-line purchase of movie tickets and one (1) Food Permit for each vehicle is required

    • Adult tickets $9.50 - ages 12 + older
    • Child $4.00 - tickets ages 3-11
    • Food Permit - $10.00 per vehicle – Required*
    • Non-refundable booking fees apply for advance ticket purchases.
    • An optional “contribute to the Midway” selection on our advance ticketing system will be available to everyone who will wish to contribute to the Midway to allow us to remain open

*The required food permit of $10.00 per vehicle allows you to bring in your own food and beverages as our concession stand will be closed for the near future (see below under Food Policy). The ability to attend and watch movies at the Midway is only open to those who bring their own food and drinks and purchase the $10.00 food permit for their vehicle.

MIDWAY DRIVE-IN COVID-19 FOOD POLICY
Until further notice, the Midway concession stand will be closed. Everyone bring their own food and beverages into the Midway so that you will not be hungry or thirsty during the movies, as no food or drinks will be sold at the Midway.  For your safety and health, please do not share food between cars.  You may not cook or grill food on the premises.

Please understand that the temporary closure of the concession stand is a major financial blow to the Midway! Without the concession sales, it will be very difficult for us to keep the lights on at the Midway.  As always, the most important part of this is you, our community. Especially now, in these times, we are keeping the best interests of our community in mind – your safety and peace of mind are most important.

$10.00 Food Permit per vehicle required. With this in mind, to allow us to open this summer, in addition to the purchase of your movie tickets, every vehicle is required to purchase a $10.00 Food Permit which allows you to bring in your own food and beverages. The Food Permit fee will only provide the Midway only a small portion of the financial support we need to open for the summer.  An optional “contribute to the Midway” selection on the advance ticket app will be available to everyone who will wish to contribute to the Midway to allow us to remain open.
All of this being said, please be sure that you purchase a Food Permit (one per vehicle) when you purchase your movie tickets for the Midway. Thank you for your support and understanding.

EVERYONE NEEDS TO BRING FOOD AND DRINKS
We provide a full evening’s worth of entertainment, and the night may last 6 hours or longer! Due to COVID-19, the concession stand is temporally closed.  We can’t have anyone fainting from hunger or thirst and missing the movies!  For your health, we need everyone to bring their own food and drink to stay hydrated, nourished, and healthy while at the Midway.

STAY IN VEHICLE POLICY
- State of Illinois rules require that our guests remain in their vehicles to view the movies. Please do not set up chairs outside of your vehicle. Please do not sit on the roof of a vehicle.
- If you have a truck, you may sit in the flatbed, but please wear a face covering while in the open air flatbed of the truck. If you have a vehicle, such as a convertible with the top down, everyone in the car must wear a face covering.
- If you are inside a vehicle, and the vehicle has a roof, you do not need to wear a mask.
- Please stay in your vehicle, with the exception of leaving your vehicle to use the restrooms.

PARKING

  • To allow for social distancing, extra space in between cars, and increased peace of mind, as a temporary policy, we will reduce our car capacity at the Midway by 50%.  One car will park between the posts (which are normally two parking spots).
  • Please be respectful of other guest’s space and maintain social distancing of six feet at all times.
  • No raised lift backs or raised hatchbacks are allowed in the first three rows. All oversized vehicles with raised lift backs please park in the 4th row or back.  For safety, please do not sit on the roof of your vehicle.  Only persons from the same household may be in a vehicle together. No buses or large vehicles, as everyone needs to be able to sit in the vehicle to view the movie.

TIPS TO HELP US SOCIAL DISTANCE

  • If possible, as a back-up, bring a radio that can be tuned to an FM station to hear the movies.  You can still tune your in-car radio to 91.3 FM to listen to the movie (in the accessory position), but having a portable FM radio is a great back-up in case your car does not have an accessory position, or if there are issues.
  • Please make sure you are able to turn all of the lights on your vehicle off during the movie (both head lights, brake lights, and interior lights).  Please test your vehicle in advance.  If any of your lights stay on, please bring blankets, or cardboard to cover the lights on your vehicle.

RESTROOMS

  • Restrooms will still be open.  Masks/face coverings must be worn by all guests when outside of the vehicle or using the restroom.
  • For the Women’s room, please use the door to the far left of our restroom building.  For the Men’s room, please enter using the doors on the far right.
  • The restroom lines will form outside of the building.  Due to social distancing, lines will not form inside of the building.  Individuals utilizing our restrooms must adhere to the social distancing policy of adhering to the 6 ft. social distancing policy while waiting in line.  A restroom attendant will control the rate of restroom occupancy throughout the evening.
  • The restrooms will be disinfected at frequent intervals throughout the evening. The restrooms will have plenty of antibacterial soap.  Hand sanitizer stations will be available.

GENERAL RULES – FOR THE SAFETY OF OUR COMMUNITY

  • Please bring your own garbage bags to dispose of your own trash at home, so that our staff will not be required to risk their health by cleaning other people's trash off the ground.  Your help with this is greatly appreciated, as you will be protecting the health of your community and your neighbors.
  • Everyone, including children, must bring face masks or face coverings with them to the Midway.  Face masks or face coverings (covering your mouth and nose) must be worn anytime you leave your vehicle/parking space and are required in order to use the restrooms.
  • Please practice social distancing all times at the Midway, staying six feet apart from other guests at all times.
  • Please do not bring dogs or pets to the Midway.
  • The grass play area in the front area by the screen is closed until further notice. Please no walking, sports activities (no ball throwing, baseball, football, Frisbee throwing, etc.), or no group gatherings in the grassy area in front of the screen.
  • These new COVID-19 policies are in addition to our regular policies which are listed on our website.

All policies are predicated on this unprecedented event and may change.

And please follow the existing House Rules as well…
